100% recycled metals
There is already plenty of extracted silver and gold in circulation. That’s why we believe it makes good sense to melt down and reuse what already exists. The mining industry causes pollution and requires extensive intervention in nature, as well as the use of harmful chemicals.
It has been a long process to ensure the authenticity of recycled materials, but since 2020, all byBiehl jewellery has been made from 100% recycled metals.
Our jewellery boxes are made from FSC-certified paper and biodegradable bamboo. Our display materials are produced locally in Denmark using wood. And we don’t stop there: we continuously review all the materials we use to find more sustainable alternatives.
We can always improve – that’s why we’re on our green journey.
Quality and durability are the cornerstones of our design
Nothing is worse than when your favourite piece of jewellery breaks. That’s why Charlotte Biehl decided from the very beginning to design jewellery that lasts for generations.
At byBiehl, we only work with goldsmiths who combine beauty and durability, ensuring our jewellery is Made to Last in both design and quality – and becomes even more beautiful over time. Inspiration often comes from nature and its timeless simplicity.
The ambition is for each piece to be worn throughout life and be tied to personal memories. It should also be possible to style across collections, giving the jewellery new life again and again – which is also the most sustainable way to use jewellery.
All jewellery is created with precision and craftsmanship: stones are set by hand, details are added manually, silver jewellery is rhodium-plated to prevent tarnishing, and our gold-plated pieces have a thick, long-lasting plating.
Ethical production
We work with family-owned businesses with many years of experience in high-end jewellery production and with good working conditions.
Our suppliers are manufacturers certified by the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC), which requires responsibility throughout every stage of the process. As a member of the RJC, companies commit to upholding key principles such as human rights, working conditions, as well as environmental and social responsibility.
We are in daily contact with the owners, with whom we have built close relationships. We also visit our producers regularly to maintain strong partnerships and good working environments.
