The jewellery is made from pure medical titanium. The outer coating is only applied to the parts of the jewellery that are not in contact with the skin.

Aftercare
A newly made piercing is a small wound, so it is important to take proper care of it during the healing period to avoid infection. You minimise the risk of infection by following these aftercare instructions.
- Never touch your ears with unclean hands.
- Clean your newly pierced ears thoroughly (front and back) both morning and evening. Leave the earrings in place while cleaning. Use liquid soap and rinse thoroughly with running water when showering or washing your hair. Dry afterwards with a clean paper towel or cotton bud. Alternatively, you can clean with Blomdahl cleansing wipes, which are gentle on your skin.
- Make sure the area around the new piercing is always clean, dry and well ventilated.
- Cover your ears when using hairspray, perfume, makeup, hair dye products, etc.
- Be extra careful when pulling clothes over your head so the earrings do not catch on the fabric.
- If you swim in a pool, lake or the sea: wait as long as possible before swimming and avoid putting your head under water. Clean afterwards with either liquid soap or Blomdahl Piercing Aftercare cleansing wipes.
- After about 6 weeks (cartilage: about 12 weeks), you can replace the earrings with other earrings.
- It can take up to a year for the piercing to heal completely, so please note the following:
Do not go without earrings, as the hole may shrink and/or close up again.
Be careful when changing earrings. The newly formed skin inside the piercing is thin and delicate, so it can be easily damaged and infection can occur. Always clean both the earring and your hands before changing earrings, and continue to keep the piercing dry, clean and well ventilated.
If you wear earrings with a back, the back should not be pressed tightly against the back of the ear.
The risk of developing contact allergy is highest during the first year after piercing. You should therefore be extra careful when choosing earrings.
Important
Redness, swelling, pain or a rash may be signs of infection. If the piercing is in the soft part of the ear, meaning the earlobe, remove the earring and wash the area. If it has not improved by the next day, contact your doctor. If the piercing is in the cartilage part of the ear, remove the earring, wash the area and contact your doctor immediately.
